Whether you are looking to turn your life up a notch or simply make the most of your time here on Earth, here are a few tips for making it all happen in this lifetime!
My Past Self
Boy was I a workaholic! I spent day and night working, and forsaking the joy that I feel when I’m around family and friends, or traveling, or enjoying New York City. A huge part of me thought that I didn’t deserve to have recreational time while I was working to build an empire (crazy, right!). So, I kept things very consistent and focused. I would work about 75 hour work weeks and sleep in between. Work was my life.
It wasn’t until I was about 5 years into this pattern that I realized how much I was neglecting my passion. I limited my passion to only one part of my life, and left the other portions stagnant. On one hand, I was happy to be on the brink of something awesome. On the other hand, I was emotionally hollow. I felt very out of touch with the people and world that I love. But for what?
I asked myself that question a few times over…for what? For what? For what? Why and I making myself a social mortar? I didn’t really have an answer that served me, so I begin to break free. I started slowly but surely spending lunch time with friends, or taking trips that I’d always wanted take. And after months and months of doing this, I felt my heart beating just a little different than before.
My New Self
The new me understands the need for harmony between all parts of my life. I love working, but I also love quality time with the people that I love, and enjoying a culturally fused life. I don’t feel guilty for taking time for me, because I have decided that I matter most in this scenario. With a lot of work and self analysis, it became very clear to me that I needed to re-align with my purpose and use my years to build my legacy authentically. I started to shape the world that I live in with the spiritual, physical, emotional, and practical harmony that I desire. Now, everyday belongs to me. It’s up to me how I dedicate my energy and my passion, and I am much more conscious of the investment that I am margin with my life. I’m officially living out loud! Now what about you?
How will you spend your year?
Will you be intentional about fulfilling your legacy, or will you allow the days to pass, asking “when is it my turn”?
Will you invest each day with vigor and passion, or will you play it safe and leave all of your dreams on the table?
Your life, your years, your legacy, belongs to you. No one else is responsible for what takes place in your lifetime. Then, make a note each day of at least one thing that you do different every day. You’ll realize that there’s more spontaneity in your world than you knew!

2. Travel to Places Unknown (or at least unknown to you!)
What better way to live the first time around than to do it exploring new places and cultures. You don’t need to go 1st class, and stay in 5 star hotels if your budget doesn’t allow! Look for fun and budget friendly coupons on Groupon, Living Social, or another travel source for culture infused passport poppin that will light your fire! While you’re out about, take photos and jot your adventures somewhere safe, where you can always look back on it and realize what a spirited life you live!

3. Do Something That Represents Your Wild Side
But never break the law! Try living on the wild side, just once, and see how it feels! Get with your most lively friends and make a live out loud list that is for your eyes only! Then, knock out each of these wild and crazy moments one by one, conquering your every fear and murdering that boring routine busy body that once took your life hostage! 4. Explore a New Topic; Discover a New Passion
Learning adds variety and spice to life! Study something that will lift your spirits and give you a fresh perspective on life! Here’s a few examples from my live out loud list: “actors and old movies”, “humanitarian figures and famous leaders”, “new and old cultures”, “fashion and style throughout time”, “animals and their habitats”, “controversial figures” and more! What’s a topic that you’ve always been interested in but never truly discovered? Time to dive in!

5. Give a “Hand Up” to Someone Else
Charity = love and love = charity. There is no greater way to feel lifted than giving of yourself liberally to someone who may be in need. And you don’t need to be filthy rich to do this! You just need to want to feel a deeper sense of gratitude and fulfillment from the life that you live. You can help out at a soup kitchen, provide assistance to a youth program, spend time with the elderly at a nursing home, send thank you notes, remember those who brought you up, and always be thankful for what you have, for there are many in much worse condition than you.
“Flatter not thyself in thy faith in God if thou hast not charity for thy neighbor.” – Francis Quarles
6. Dare to Dream
Remember that thing you once dreamed about? You know, the one that you keep telling yourself to put aside until the “right time”? Well dust it off and dive deeper! Take a minute to close your eyes, and visualize your life on a perfect day. Write down your vision and actualize it step by step until you’re in the midst of a dream fulfilled!
“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” – Gloria Steinem
This list is not for the faint at heart. It’s more for the woman who’s making the choice to leave no stone unturned and make every heartbeat count for something amazing. Have no regrets, and take many chances, because you deserve to experience the thrill of saying goodbye to your old self and meeting your new self!
